The Big Bang and Light misconceptions

  • The Big Bang was an “Explosion”: Thinking it was an explosion in space (like a bomb), rather than an expansion of space itself.
  • We see events “Now”: Not realizing that because of the speed of light, looking
    at distant stars is actually “looking back in time.”
  • Black Holes are “Vacuum Cleaners”: The belief that black holes “suck”
    everything in from great distances, rather than just having a very strong
    gravitational pull nearby.
