Gravity in Space

  • Zero Gravity in Orbit: The belief that astronauts float because there is “no
gravity” in space, rather than because they are in constant “free-fall.”
  • Gravity needs air: The idea that gravity stops as soon as you leave the Earth’s
    atmosphere.
  • The Sun’s gravity only affects planets: Thinking the Sun doesn’t pull on
distant stars or that its pull stops at Pluto.
  • Planets “stay up” because of no gravity: The idea that planets would fall
“down” if gravity existed in space.
